Less than fifty days left until the new school year begins. Much on my plate as I sort through so much. The hibiscus reminds me of my beginnings in Miami.
Old documents remind me of the sacrifices of my parents and those from whom we descend.
Seagrape leaves make me remember a past that is always present.
As do other things that bloom as the days now grow shorter.
With blueberries from our tree, all remains well.
Postscript…just heard from one of the editors of a Pan African book in which an essay I wrote on my time in Iceland will appear. Final draft going to Rowman & Littlefield, the publisher. Can’t believe it’s been a year. Above is a photo I took during the solstice in Iceland last year.
